Pregnancy 2023 Baby Registry Must-Haves

At first, I was excited to create my baby registry. I couldn’t wait to look for Harry Potter-inspired items! Then everything became overwhelming fast. I obsessed over the size and amount of diapers she would need each month, the different types of onesies, how many pants, the number of crib sheets to buy, etc.

I spent hours searching Google and Pinterest and while a couple of mom blogs helped, many of them were touting state-of-the-art baby gear I felt uncomfortable putting on my baby registry or thought was a waste of money.

While that five hundred dollar car seat boasts being the safest, all car seats have to adhere to the same safety protocols.

Right now you’re probably thinking, you’ll never let your child eat in the car. Wait until they’re having a total meltdown and screaming bloody murder. You’re going to hand your little one the only snack you have on hand— an applesauce squeeze packet.

Your baby is also going to grow out of most of their baby gear pretty quickly. That fancy bassinet that swivels? You may only use it for 4 months. If you think you’re not going to get all of the big ticket items on your list, go with an inexpensive bassinet or use a playpen.

The baby items listed below are designed to be inexpensive and compiled of everyday, must-have items for new moms. These items are no frills and are trusted and loved by other moms. As a new mom, I used almost all of the items daily, especially when I worked from home with our daughter for the first 6 months.

Whether you’re putting together your baby registry or trying to figure out what you really need for your baby, this comprehensive list I’ve put together will walk you through EVERYTHING.

Listed below are baby gear items I used while working remotely with my infant with pros and cons for each item.

Baby Gear

1. Baby K’Tan – I am very humbled by the family member choosing to gift me an extra small, but after 4 months, my Baby K’Tan was just too snug so I’m reviewing this based on the early stages of infancy.

TIP: WATCH AN INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO BEFORE USING IT. IT MAKES PUTTING ON WAY EASIER!

PROS:
– Our daughter immediately fell asleep every time.
– I could walk our dog without having to bring the stroller.
– I loved the extra support from the second tie wrap.
– No buckles or rings.
– Usually, this was the only item that would calm our daughter down when she was a newborn.

CONS:
– Do not wait until your baby is screaming to learn how to use this. Better yet, learn how to use it while you’re pregnant. I ended up panting like a wild animal in frustration, but if you watch instructional videos, you should have it down in no time.

2. Graco FastAction Travel Stroller – No offense to my Babyjogger-owning mommas, but the Graco FastAction Travel stroller works beautifully and comes with ALL the pieces a mom and child needs e.g. cup holders and a child tray. It has a near-flat seat recline (just like the Babyjogger) and the Graco stroller folds up in a matter of seconds (again…. Just like the Babyjogger).

Don’t get me wrong, the Babyjogger looks sleek and Batmanesque but remember…. this stroller is for a child. A food-smudging, blowout galore, messy little child. Nothing is safe from their grimy fingers.

PROS:
– Comes with all the accessories you need, including an infant carrier.
– Has a little peekaboo window at the top of the canopy.
– Folding it is a piece of cake.

CONS:

– The cup holder needs to be deeper. Drinks spill and fall over.
– The bottom compartment is too small. However, I was still able to fit my large, backpack diaper bag and a few other items.

3. Graco 4Ever DLX 4 in 1 Car Seat – I was obsessed over which car seat to buy. I researched for months, but as I said above, ALL CARSEATS HAVE TO ADHERE TO THE SAME SAFETY STANDARDS, so what you want to look into is how long the car seat will grow with your child.

I loved this car seat the moment we opened it from the box.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL THE CAR SEAT WITHOUT WATCHING AN INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO OR READING THE INSTRUCTIONAL MANUAL. YOU’LL SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF FRUSTRATION IN THE LONG RUN AND YOU WANT TO ENSURE IT’S INSTALLED CORRECTLY.

PROS:

– Easy to adjust straps and headrest
– Nice design and safety features
– Fits her snugly and she seems comfortable
– Mint color is beautiful
– Comes with two removable cup holders
– Grows with your little one

CONS:
– You can’t take this out and use it as an infant carrier.

4. Baby Trend Retreat Nursery Center – Our daughter transitioned into this when she became too big for her bassinet. This pack-and-play was nice and big, and I wish I would have utilized it more when I was working from home with our daughter. I didn’t need a bassinet and could have used this from day one since it has a full, removeable bassinet.

PROS:
– The mint color is lovely.
– It comes with a rocking bassinet as well as a changing table.
– I put her down for naps in the rocking bassinet when she was a newborn. When I used my foot to rock the bassinet, it put her to sleep. Anything that puts my child to sleep is a win in my book.
– The rocking bassinet also has some cool features, i.e. playing music and vibrating but I didn’t use it.
– The playard can be adjusted to use as a full bassinet.

CONS:

– The mattress is a ½” board. I know it’s for safety reasons, but I felt horrible laying her down on a piece of cardboard. We bought this mattress for the playard, and these adorable owl sheets ( to keep with the Harry Potter theme), which are a steal! I highly recommend adding the mattress and sheets to your baby registry.
– The rocking bassinet is a nice touch, but you won’t use it for long. Our daughter grew out of it quickly.
– Changing pad and bassinet do not have removable covers you can wash. This wasn’t a huge issue for us.

5. Diaper Bag – I absolutely loved how stylish this diaper bag was. The diaper bag has a ton of room and pockets and I loved that it is a backpack.

6. Bright Starts Finding Nemo Tummy Mat – My sister let me borrow this tummy mat and I wish I had found it sooner. My little one loved it and the ocean sounds are so soothing! She ended up falling asleep beneath it a couple of times.

I originally had the Fisher-Price 3-in-1 Musical Activity Gym, Woodland but my little one outgrew it quickly. When she started to roll, the entire mat would fold over on top of her. I’m not even going to link it because, for the current price, Fisher-Price must be out of their minds!

I bought the Baby Einstein Tummy Time Activity Mat in its place and our dog peed on the piano and mat so I tossed it. It was cool my baby could kick the mat, but I still would go with the Finding Nemo one over anything else.

7. Skip Hop 3-Stage Activity Center – As a new mom, especially when I was working from home with her full time, the Skip Hop Activity Center was a lifesaver! At around 18 months she was sitting at the table and uses it daily to this day at almost 3 years old.

PROS:
– One of the MAIN baby gear that kept our daughter occupied while I worked from home.
– The pastel colors are cute and she loved the toys. The toys are adjustable.
– Comes with a little piano you can move to the top or the bottom by their feet.
– The seat pivots so she can move in a circle to reach the different toys.
– Easy to adjust to your child’s height.
– Converts to play table and chalkboard.

CONS:
– Take care of your baby’s little fingers near the toys when you’re adjusting them.
– You have to buy chairs separately when you’re ready to convert to a table.
– If using this as a table for your child to sit and eat, do not forget to pop the table out to clean it or use a tablecloth. After wondering for two weeks where all the fruit flies were coming from, I saw a few hanging out on her table and decided to lift it up. All I have to say is, my poor child.

Now, I’ll pop the tabletop off once a week to clean, but you could also use a wipable tablecloth, or buy a separate table for eating meals.

We bought the LATT Children’s Table and 2 Chairs, which is a STEAL, but the issue is food still gets between the wood. You can easily caulk the table and chairs, and for the price, it’s definitely worth it. It made more sense to go this route because, for the same price as the Skip Hop chairs, you can get a table AND 2 chairs from Ikea.

8. Fisher-Price Sweet Snugapuppy Swing – I’m not sure if Fisher-Price is no longer making these swings or what, but all the different animal options are out of stock everywhere. The Ingenuity 6 Speed Baby Swing is as close to the Fisher-Price Dual Motion Baby Swing as I could find.

Our daughter LOVED her swing. For months we thought she was looking up at the toys dangling from the top, but Grandma realized the top piece that rotated the toys is a mirror, and our daughter had been smiling and talking to herself the entire time.

This was another baby gear item that saved me while I was working from home. As I’m typing this, I’m realizing these methods were likely the reason our daughter was a terrible sleeper, but the sleep-training classes out there are not geared towards moms working from home with an infant.

She took naps in this while I worked (and kept a close eye on her. I do not recommend letting your infant sleep in this. It’s dangerous), and the mirror and toys kept her occupied for a while. Sometimes the baby swing would help soothe our little one during the witching hours as well.

PROS:

– I highly recommend this swing. It’s adorable, comfortable, and entertaining.

– Adjustable recline and dual motion.

CONS:

None!

9. Fisher-Price Sweet Snugapuppy Dreams Deluxe Bouncer – Like the Fisher-Price Snugapuppy swing, this is no longer available. Most days while I was working (before my mom was able to come over and help), our daughter was in this bouncer. I put this next to my chair and used my foot to bounce her to sleep or keep her occupied while I worked.

Overall, love this product. It entertained my little one and she loved to bounce in it. I never used the vibration/music because C batteries are weird and expensive, but it was worth it even without it.

The Fisher-Price See & Soothe Deluxe Bouncer looks like a great alternative. I love that it’s higher-up, elevated, and has a foot pedal to bounce your infant.

PROS:

– For the first few months, this was crucial to me being able to work from home for 8 hours with a newborn, especially before I switched positions and had more flexibility.

CONS:

– There’s a chunky piece at that bottom edge that holds the battery where you choose the music/vibration options. Babies like to kick so I had to roll up a blanket and prop her feet up underneath. It wasn’t a deal-breaker for me. However, since I didn’t use the vibration/music option, I would have gone with a less expensive option.

NURSING & FEEDING

1. Medela Breast Pump – This breast pump worked great for me. Breast pumps are expensive. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, most health insurance policies offer women a free breast pump. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you’ll receive an outdated, ugly pump. Your benefits may cover top brands i.e. Willow, Spectra, Dr. Brown’s, Lansinoh, etc. If you don’t have insurance, or it’s not covered, look into buying secondhand if you don’t want to add another high-ticket item to your registry. You can easily sanitize the parts.

2. Nursing Bra – When your leaking milk from your breasts, you don’t think you could feel sexy, but this bra did just that. This bra fits like a glove. Highly recommend. Going hands-free completely changed the game.

3. Medela Breastmilk Storage Bags – I only used maybe one or two of these bags, but that is because I never had a decent supply due to breastfeeding and bottle feeding. They’re good to have on hand if you’re choosing to breastfeed, and it’s safe to freeze breast milk for 6+ months!

4. Medela Nipple Shields – Our little one sucked off the tip of my right nipple within the first three days of being home. She had a great latch at the hospital. I saw a lactation nurse in the hospital. I read books and googled obsessively, but still ended up with a piece of my nipple gone. These nipple shields were a LIFESAVER. I wish I would have bought them sooner. I always produced less milk in my right breast because I didn’t nurse my little one on that side for several days. If I hadn’t bought the nipple shields, I’m not sure I would have continued nursing. Our daughter took to them easily and if she did notice a difference, it didn’t bother her.

5. Medela Lanolin Nipple Cream – This was a must when it came to my boobie self-care. Funny because I never and still don’t have a self-care routine for myself, but I had one for my breasts, which you can read here!

6. 12-PK Cotton Burp Cloths – I still use these burp cloths to this day for little messes. In the summertime, I wet a few, put them in the freezer, and bring them to the park with us in a sandwich bag for an easy way to cool down. They’re a perfect size, just thick enough, and soft.

7. Bottle Warmer – I didn’t put a bottle warmer on my baby registry, but my mother-in-law gave me one and I will say it was a lot easier than waiting for water to boil.

8. Boppy Nursing Pillow – This is an item I used daily, multiple times a day, for months. There are adjustable nursing pillows now and ones with pockets, but this simple boppy worked great for us and was easy to clean. All I did was toss it in the washer and let it air dry.

9. Waterproof Boppy Nursing Cover – You’re going to be dealing with a lot of spit-up and blowouts. I didn’t put a waterproof boppy cover on my baby registry, but if I would have thought to check for waterproof covers, I would have gone with waterproof. Mine worked fine but since they’re similar in price, why not go for the waterproof? Regardless, you’re going to want an extra cover so you can use the spare when one has to be tossed in the wash.

10. Philips Avent Baby Bottle Gift Set – This is a great set to get you started. I liked how it came with sealing discs to use as storage containers. Our little one took to the bottles without a problem,

11. Baby Bottle Cleaning Brush with Nipple Cleaner – The Philips Avent Baby Bottle Gift Set comes with a bottle cleaner, but I prefer to use these instead. They’re dishwasher safe and worked great for months, but another great alternative I found is the Innobaby 2-in-1 Silicone Bottle Brush. It’s dishwasher safe also, but I like that it has a silicone brush that comes off to place in boiling water or microwave for a deeper clean.

12. Attitude Sensitive Skin Natural Baby Bottle & Dishwashing Liquid – I didn’t put baby bottle soap on my registry or even think to look for it. I never used this but this baby bottle soap gets an A rating from the Environmental Working Group (EWG). I’ve seen moms use Dapple Baby Soap, which received a B rating from EWG. However, it’s still a great option and you get more bang for your buck!

1. Fisher Price SpaceSaver High Chair – I chose this high chair over others for the sole reason of saving space. Assembly took less than five minutes and the seat reclines for younger babies. We never had any issues with pinched fingers or chubby inner thighs. I’d sit our daughter in this after her meal so she could play with her Melissa and Doug Bead Maze. This would be easily portable to take to parties or outings, but her Mom Mom just happened to give us another one that folds up into a little bag for that purpose. The fabric liner slides easily on and off and is washable.

PROS:
– This has a reclining back, which made it comfortable for our baby to sit at the table with us comfortably.
– I liked how it felt she was at the table with us, instead of in a taller high chair.
– Easy to assemble.
– The seat cover is machine washable and did not shrink.

CONS:

– The detachable top tray does not cover the entire bottom tray so I’m either cleaning two trays after her meals or I’ll just use it without the tray cover so I’m not doing double duty.
– There are a lot of little crevices where food can get stuck. You can take the entire seat apart and put it in the dishwasher, but it’s large and takes up the entire bottom of our dishwasher.
– You need two people to take the seat apart. One to pull the

2. Munchkin White Hot Safety Spoons – The spoon tip turns white when the food is too hot, which was almost always the case when I warmed up our daughter’s food.

3. Munchkin Toddler Forks & Spoons – Your baby is going to grow up fast! It is not silly to put toddler-related items on your baby registry. I love the thicker handles and stainless steel flatware. I originally had plastic flatware, but our daughter wasn’t able to poke food with the fork. This fork was a game changer. They come in different colors as well.

4. Silicone Bibs – Don’t even think about putting cloth bibs on your baby registry. The best part is they’re top-rack dishwasher safe!

5. Munchkin Stay Put Suction Bowls

6. Silicone Toddler Plates – I never used these. We were gifted a Harry Potter plate set for my baby shower and that’s what we still use to this day, along with our normal everyday plates. However, I like these silicone plates because of the divider with the place for dip. They’re also a great way to incorporate learning into the meal since they come in bright colors!

7. Munchin Trainer Cup – I still haven’t found a cup that’s 100% spill proof and when left on its side, this cup leaks quite a bit, but this didn’t start happening until after a year. I’m not sure if it’s from continuous washes in the dishwasher or what, but we use it sparingly since she drinks out of a regular cup now anyway. Some reviewers had issues with mold, but this seems to be the case with every sippy cup you see reviews for. I take apart the cup, put each piece in the dishwasher, and let each piece air dry. I’ve never had issues with mold with any of our daughter’s cups. However, there were also reviewers who said their child had trouble getting anything out of the sippy cup. Like bottles, you may have to try a few different cups before you find what works best. We also introduced regular cups as much as possible.

8. Nuk Learner Cups – This cup was also great to have on hand when our daughter was just starting to drink water around 5 months. My child didn’t turn into a Gremlin. It gets HOT starting in late March where we live, and water never replaced breastmilk.

9. Munchkin Snack Catchers – I love the Munchkin brand. They’re BPA-free, reasonably priced, and have held up better than trendier, more expensive brands.

NEWBORN ESSENTIALS

1. FridaBaby Quick-Read Digital Rectal Thermometer – I like how it has a parent-proof rectal insertion stopper so you don’t insert too far. Taking my little one’s temperature rectally has always been one of those parent moments I hate. I’m worried I’m going to hurt her, but it didn’t even phase her as an infant. Always use a big glob of Vaseline.

2. Infant Tylenol – I am so grateful to a friend who suggested I put Tylenol on my baby shower registry. When your baby wakes up in the middle of the night screaming with a fever, you’re going to count your blessings. I didn’t need it until she was 9 months old, but it’s not something you think of until your child is sick. If it happens in the middle of the night, stores will be closed and you’ll be shit out of luck.

3. Boogie Baby Saline Nasal Spray Mist – This works great to clear and moisturize dry, irritated noses. Afterward, I’d just use a boogie sucker. As I’m typing this, I realized I can use this to flush my 2-year-old’s nose since her allergies have been pretty bad.

4. Nasal Aspirator, Bulb – When she was really congested, that’s when I used the Boogie Baby Saline Mist above and a nose sucker. A few moms I know swear by the FridaBaby Nasal Aspirator but the old-school nasal bulb snot-sucker worked great for us. I didn’t buy this specific one, but just make sure whatever nasal bulb you buy, it opens so you can clean it.

5. Oogiebear Nose and Ear Gadget – I used this a lot more than the nasal bulb because my daughter had more issues with dry boogers and rarely had a runny rose. You can also use this for earwax.

6. Safety 1st Clear View Nail Clippers – I don’t think having the magnifying glass is necessary, but this had a great grip and I still use it to this day. However, any infant nail clippers will do.

7. Johnson’s Baby Oil – We put a little bit of this on her head for the cradle cap and combed it out. You only need a tiny bit. Even though you’ll have a lot leftover, Johnson’s Baby Oil is great for removing makeup too!

8. Safety 1st Easy Grip Brush and Comb – You’re going to want a comb to comb out the pesky cradle cap after applying the baby oil. Our pediatrician had told us to scrub her head in the bath to remove it but my mom suggested Johnson’s Baby Oil and the cradle cap came off our little one’s head so easily.

9. Aquaphor Diaper Rash Ointment – I prefer Aquaphor over Destin because eventually our Destin would separate and wouldn’t smear. This happened with two different tubes of Destin.

NURSERY & DECOR

1. Chicco Lullago Bassinet – I was torn on buying a bassinet since I was getting the Baby Trend Retreat Nursery Center. I initially envisioned a super girly, round antique looking bassinet with frilly bedding, but the frugal voice in my head kept whispering, “Don’t do it.” I’m so glad I didn’t. That bassinet would have looked horrible in the midst of piles of laundry. As sleep deprived as I was, I would have never looked at it or cared how pretty it was.

PROS:

– Easy to assemble and move around if needed.

– Doesn’t take up a lot of space.

CONS:

– The mattress, if you can call it that, is more like a board.

Some reviews said it wobbled but we never had a problem with it moving. I bought bassinet sheets and a waterproof, quilted mattress pad cover to give the bassinet mattress some cushion because it’s flat as a board. Flat and firm mattresses are for your infant’s safety, but I felt better adding some softness to her sleep.

2. Delta 4-in-1 Convertible Crib Gray – I wanted a gray, minimalist-style crib. No frills. My plan was to sew her crib skirts and teething pads for the top rails of the crib to make the crib look girly. I couldn’t find anything online that I liked— or the crib skirts I liked were over 100 dollars. Um, no thank you.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the gray, shiny frame in person, however, once I added the crib skirt I sewed myself from fabric I found on Etsy, it looked great in our daughter’s nursery.

PROS:

– Low price.

EASY to assemble and take apart.

– Very sturdy, great quality.

– Made out of pine wood. Lightweight.

– Features three mattress height positions.

CONS:

I would have chosen a different color. The gray color with the simple design reminded me of a hospital bed, but it still looked great in our daughter’s nursery once everything was decorated. I wanted the aqua color, which reviewers said was more like mint, but it wasn’t in stock and I’m still not seeing it show up as an option to buy.

I saved the instructional manual in a file folder, but I was too lazy to grab it when we were moving and had to take the crib apart. I put the crib together again in our new place without the manual. Although I had a couple of mishaps, it only took me about an hour to put it together again. It would have taken less time if I used the instructional manual.

3. Delta Crib Mattress

4. Crib Sheets – The Lambs & Ivy Chevron is showing currently unavailable as of Feb. 9th ’23 but the Lambs and Ivy store has plenty of other great options. It’s also a well-known, female-owned, small business. Here’s another pink chevron print, along with many other color/print options that are five stars.

5. Hatch Rest Baby Sound Machine – I didn’t get this off my baby registry but every mom I spoke with swears by it, especially if you’re having issues with your toddler waking up too early. We used a sound machine from Family Dollar that worked great, but this might be a good option when your child is older and you can use the Time-to-Rise and Time-for-Bed light features.

6. Video Baby Monitor – I originally had a low-cost baby monitor on my registry but my sister-in-law suggested getting one with a better resolution— and I’m so glad I listened. The picture is clear, even at night. It has added features like a lullaby player with different songs, two-way audio, and most importantly, a private connection.

PROS:

– Night vision is fantastic.

CONS:

– Battery life doesn’t last through the night so when the battery is dying, you’re woken up by a very loud, obnoxious beeping noise. But apparently, this stays charged for WAY longer than other monitors.

– After ten months of usage, the monitor would only keep a charge if plugged in. Then the temperature and time malfunctioned. I never called their customer service, however, many reviews on Amazon say they have great customer service. My friend also had an issue with hers and they shipped her out a new one immediately. They’re a fairly new company but have shown they appreciate their customers and want your feedback.

7. Baby Diaper Caddy Large Collapsible Nursery Organizer Storage Basket

8. Luvable Friends Unisex Baby Cotton Flannel Receiving Blankets – We used these to swaddle our daughter before we bought the velcro swaddles. They’re also good to have around for the summer and to lay down for a diaper change.

9. Plastic Baby Hangers – I didn’t use many hangers because our daughter’s nursery closet was tiny, but you’ll want a pack or two.

10. Storkcraft Premium Hoop Glider and Ottoman – We bought our rocking chair from a local sale event called Just Between Friends, which sells kids’ clothes, toys, shoes, and infant gear at a fraction of the cost. Check the website to find out if there’s an event coming up near you! This rocking chair is the closest to the one we have and we still use it two years later. I would have preferred a rocking chair with a recliner, but they take up a lot more space and cost an arm and a leg.

11. Laundry Hamper – I wanted something to match my whole gray, gold, and pink Harry Potter theme going on and I found this one with stags and arrows on it that worked perfectly.

CLOTHING & ACCESSORIES

1. Ely’s & Co. Swaddleez Adjustable Baby Swaddle Wrap – These velcro swaddles were easy to use and convenient, unlike receiving blankets. I’d recommend getting two or three packs. We only had one 2-pk. When there was a blowout or vomit, which was often, we swaddled our little one in a receiving blanket and it was a nightmare trying to do this in the middle of the night. Our daughter also grew out of receiving blankets quickly. (she was 8 lbs when she was born). We swaddled for about three months.

The Amazing Baby Transitional Swaddle Sack is a less expensive option for arms-up swaddles and transitions into a sleep sack as your little one grows. I never used it but it has great reviews on Amazon with moms saying their infants slept better when wearing this swaddle.

However, you’re still going to run into blowouts, vomit, and pee, even if you put your baby in multiple layers. One sleep sack isn’t going to cut it, so put a few on your registry.

2. Simple Joys by Carter’s Baby Girls’ Cotton Footed Sleep and Play, 3PK – I had sleeper gowns when our daughter was an infant because I thought they’d be easier, but getting them on and off was difficult. It was easy when only her diaper needed to be changed, but since she consistently woke up soaking wet, we had to change her outfit.

The double zipper footed pajamas proved to be the best option for an infant and beyond. I wouldn’t recommend buying the sleeper gowns or anything with buttons or snaps. Trust me.

3. Zutano Unisex Fleece Baby Booties with Organic Cotton Lining

4. Carter’s Baby Girls’ Newborn-9M Hooded Quilted Pram Sleep & Play

5. Gerber unisex-baby 8-pack Short Sleeve Onesies Bodysuits – I put onesies on underneath the footed pajamas and also used them a lot in the summertime.

6. Carter’s Baby Girls’ 4-Pack Side-Snap Tees – I just loved the side snap and the tees were soft and cute.

7. Simple Joys by Carter’s Baby Girls’ Fleece Pants, Pack of 4

8. Simple Joys by Carter’s Unisex Toddlers and Babies’ Hat and Mitten Set – Our little one was born in the winter during a snowstorm so this was something I couldn’t leave off my list.

9. Owlivia Baby Sleep Sack Organic Cotton Sleeping Bag with- 2.5tog – I didn’t use a sleep sack. We swaddled until she was able to roll over, which was around three months old, and then she slept in the footed pajamas with the short sleeve onesie underneath. If I felt she was too cold, I put a lightweight, crocheted blanket over her legs.

I know. This is considered unsafe and when I have another child, I’ll be buying a sleep sack. I believed it was a waste since my family never used sleep sacks and I hadn’t even known they existed until I was pregnant. However, my sleep was worse when she had a blanket on her. The sleep sack will give you peace of mind.

BATH

1. Skip Hop Baby Bath Tub – I researched many baby bathtubs before settling on this one. It allows for peace of mind as your baby grows since you can wait longer to put them in the big tub with the adjustable netting. It works like a baby hammock. It also comes with a swivel hook for hanging to dry.

2. Tub Cubby Baby Bath Toy Storage

2. Baby Bath Toys with Organizer

3. Munchkin White Hot Safety Bath Ducky

4. Bamboo Baby Bath Towels 2-PKSpasilk Bath Hooded Towels & Washcloths Set

5. 16 Pack Baby Washcloths – Luxury Multicolor Coral Fleece

6. ATTITUDE 2-in-1 Natural Hair and Body Foaming Wash for Baby

Remember to check out second-hand stores for kids first to find items you may not have received on your baby registry. I wanted everything brand new since it was my first child, and I’m going to hold onto everything for when we have a second, but it will quickly become expensive if you do not receive everything on your baby registry and you’re buying the essentials. Especially when you receive too many newborn diapers and need other sizes.

You do not need the latest and greatest baby gear because your child will not know the difference and will grow out of it quickly. Don’t overthink it. Enjoy this!
